Long ago, in the far North, before the while man came to this land, there was a huge lake of pure water. The people were scattered thinly in those times, but along the shores of this lake lived a young Indian Brave and a fair Indian Maiden. They had never met, but each evening at sundown the young Brave would stand on the shore of the famous lake and give the Indian Love Call. The Maiden would answer him from across the Lake. This went on for many years.
Early one spring, went the sap was rising it the trees, and the famous lake still had large pieces of ice floating in it, the lonely Indian Brave put all his heart and soul into his love call. The Maiden returned his Love Call, and it so moved the young Brave that he dived into the icy waters and swam out towards the Maiden! He made about ten stokes, cramped up, and sank to the bottom like a stone!
And to this very day, the lake is named for that young Brave. Its called Lake Stupid!
